The Hugh Johns Collection
Hugh Johns (1922-2007) was a brilliant British football commentator. He joined ITV in 1966 when they won rights to cover the World Cup. Johns had the honour of commentating on England's 1966 World Cup final victory over West Germany at Wembley. He was known to have a warm, friendly commentary style that was calmly controlled until key match moments.
